Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years since relocating for construction to commence.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. Once fully finished, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

The club conducted a public practice inside the stadium earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
