The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing chaos and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, socially charged tales. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' format by featuring a fresh location and ensemble in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of society through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
